🕹️ The 8BitDo Lite SE 2

The 8BitDo Lite SE 2 is a welcome addition to the accessible gaming space — and a great alternative to a full Xbox Adaptive Controller (XAC) setup at a much lower price point. As someone who owns both the original Lite SE and now the Lite SE 2, I can say this version makes some thoughtful improvements.
The Lite SE 2 is significantly larger than the first model, but still smaller than a standard controller. That extra size gives your hands room to breathe, making it easier to position your fingers without feeling cramped — a huge deal when muscle fatigue is a constant battle.

Key updates include:
- Supports Xbox and PC using 2.4G wireless with an included dongle (no Bluetooth).
- No longer supports Switch or iOS — a tradeoff for broader Xbox compatibility.
For me, pushing any button — even low-resistance ones — still brings on muscle fatigue, but this controller buys me a bit more time than others I’ve tried.
The controller comes with two 8BitDo Super Buttons and two 3.5mm inputs on the top for switch use, which are compatible with any of your XAC switches. For anyone who’s already invested a lot in accessibility gear, getting two extra buttons plus a controller for around $50–$60 is pretty dang good.
My one wish for a future version? Standard shoulder buttons and a more traditional backside for those who prefer to hold a controller instead of playing flat on a surface.
If you’re looking for a compact, affordable adaptive controller that makes gaming more accessible on Xbox and PC, the Lite SE 2 is definitely worth checking out. If you’ve tried it yourself, I’d love to hear your thoughts — feel free to share your experience in the comments!
